Students studying outside appeal Govt to consider them eligible for accounts assistant posts at block level | KNO

Srinagar, May 29 (KNO): At least ten thousand students pursuing their courses outside the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir Friday demanded the government should make them eligible for the post of accounts assistant at block levels. They said that their graduation courses were scheduled to end this month but due to Covid-19 lockdown it got delayed. Talking to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the distressed students said the Lt Governors administration has almost finalized the preparation to fill the posts but all of them would have been eligible had the Covid-19 outbreak not created panic and disturbed the normal life. They said that they are in the last semester and were about to appear in the final projects and internship that was scheduled to end by mid-May but this pandemic has affected their carrier and a life time job opportunity. They said at least 10,000 students are enrolled in various colleges pursuing various courses outside the UT and now they were about to finish their degrees and apply for jobs but the lockdown due to Covid-19 delayed the whole process. Sheikh Shahid, one of the students said that he was pursuing B-Tech from a university outside the UT and was scheduled to finish his degree by this mid-May but the delay due to this virus outbreak is now taking away a job opportunity from him and all those students enrolled outside. Sheikh Aijaz, another student said that government has initiated the process to fill the post of accounts assistant for which graduation is the basic qualification but if the government is hiring for the benefit of society and unemployed youth they should consider them as eligible for the post as well as they have also completed their degree as per the academic session. The distressed students said their respective universities have intimated them about the exams to be scheduled in June or July ending and they lose the job opportunity. The student made a fervent appeal to the government to consider all of them as eligible and allow them to apply for the post so that a year and a chance is not wasted for want of degree certificate only—(KNO)
